This research evaluates whether at-home bleaching is equally effective for upper and lower teeth, recognizing the potential for greater salivary contamination to reduce efficacy in the lower arch. Using a prospective observational cohort study with a split-mouth design on 32 participants, the study applied 16% carbamide peroxide over three weeks, measuring color changes with various formulas (CIELAB, CIEDE2000, WID). While no significant differences were found for incisors, upper canines showed more significant bleaching than lower canines in the latter weeks, though the difference was not clinically noticeable. The study concludes that at-home bleaching is generally effective for both arches, suggesting that extending treatment time for the lower arch is unnecessary.
