This clinical trial investigates the long-term performance of 3D-printed resin composite fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) used for posterior teeth restorations over a three-year period. Researchers evaluated 68 FDPs in 49 patients, observing various parameters such as anatomical form, marginal adaptation, and patient satisfaction. The study highlights that while 3D-printed FDPs maintained anatomical contours, they exhibited a limited long-term success rate, with mechanical failures, particularly fractures in the connector region, being the primary concern. Ultimately, the findings suggest these 3D-printed restorations may be considered long-term provisional solutions rather than permanent ones, underscoring the need for design improvements and further research into their durability.
